You need to decide what it is that you want.
Not what you think others want for you, but what is it that YOU want for
you. Without a burning desire to achieve a goal that is personal and
has meaning to you, you're just kidding yourself. Success won't happen.
When challenges and obstacles present themselves and cause you to ask
yourself why am I doing this, you need to know the answer in an instant.
Your reasons come first... the goals come second. If your reasons
are personal, strong enough and can flash to your mind in an instant,
especially when discouragement sets in, then you're ready to set some long
term and short term goals.
Goals allow you to measure your success. As you achieve them you can
check them off and actually see your progress. Short term goals
should be stepping stones to realizing your long term goals.
For example, if your long term goal is to have an online business that
will produce an annual income of $100,000.00 what might some of your short
term goals be?
1: Find a product to market online.
2: Develop a web page.
3: Promote, promote, promote.
Now with each item listed above make a step by step checklist of how
you're going to reach each short term goal. Once you begin,
determine to keep at it until you succeed. (This is why you need a
strong enough reason before you even begin.)
So to summarize...
1. Know the reasons why... you need a goal.
2. Set long term and short term goals.
3. List the steps required to achieve each short term goal.
4. Allow your reasons to cause you to continue, until you succeed.
Here is a well known tip that has created fortunes.
1. Make a list of things that need to be done to move towards one of
your short term goals.
2. Prioritize the list; having the most important task first.
3. Complete the first task on the list before starting the second
task.
4. Continue in this manner until your list is completed.
At the end of the day examine what you've accomplished. Any items
that are not crossed off your list add them to your next day's list.
Remember to keep these lists geared towards achieving your short term
goals (which must be in line with your long term goal) and if you don't
give up (and you won't if you know your reasons) then success will be
yours!
