Do you ever feel overwhelmed by obstacles? Are you so
preoccupied that you have given up on projects or goals? If you
answer yes to either of these questions, you may have a problem staying
focused. I have found that these six simple steps have not only
helped me to become focused, but they have greatly improved my life.
*Set An Obtainable Goal:
In order to learn to stay focused, you need something to focus on.
Setting a realistic goal is a great way to get started on your journey.
Examples of realistic goals vary from person to person. Some goals
may include furthering your education, losing weight or perhaps organizing
your kitchen. There must be an element of challenge to your goal.
If your goal is too simple, you will easily bore and become unmotivated.
*Faith and Belief:
If you do not believe in yourself, you have created the biggest
obstacle one can ever encounter. In order to learn, improve or
change, you must get rid of fear and doubt. Knowing you are going to
succeed is ninety percent of the battle. In your mind, picture
yourself achieving your desired goal. With no doubts in your mind,
you are ready to move forward.
*Preparation:
If it is important to know what you want, it is equally important to
know how to get there. Know exactly what you want to achieve, and
plan your course of action. What are the necessary materials and/or
steps required to obtain your goal? Do your Research! Allow your
self enough time and have a target start and completion date.
Preparation is important because it diminishes some of the obstacles that
may get in the way of achieving your goals.
*One Thing At A Time:
When you are in the process of actively pursuing your goal, concentrate
only at the task at hand. Do not concern yourself with anything
outside of what you are doing at that exact moment. Worrying about
anything else only creates yet another unnecessary roadblock.
Remember, Rome was not built in a day, but rather - through focus,
diligent effort and day-to-day goals - what was once only an idea became a
reality.
*Take Care Of Yourself:
In the process of conquering our goals, we sometimes fail to meet our
personal needs. Make sure in your pursuits, that you get plenty of
rest, eat right and take breathers whenever necessary. Make sure you
take a little time for yourself, even if it is just 20 minutes a day.
If you are content and alert, you will succeed with ease.
*The Outcome:
Don't worry about the outcome. If you should happen to fall
short, it is okay. Failing to reach their dreams on the first
attempt, many great people picked themselves up and ended up eventually
finding their success. Don't sell yourself short - you are just
around the corner from reaching your goal. Practice and persistence
is the key.
These six steps are important because they aid us in eliminating
obstacles. The only way to get in focus and stay focused is to
remove all distractions. Use these steps to tap into your inner
strengths, which will give you the ability to achieve our goals!
