It is based upon the belief, held by many, that illness or affliction in the body, emotions, mind and spirit has as its ultimate cause defects in the higher energy field surrounding the body. The human body is composed of various energy fields and that people become ill when those fields become blocked, out of balance or otherwise disturbed. CHIOS Energy Therapists attempt to restore health by first detecting and then removing the blockages, etc.

Energy Therapists use a wide variety of techniques to balance and release the body's energy flow. Most involve the practitioner's placing his/her hands very near the patients body. The hands should not touch the body because the energy fields extend out several inches from the body. It would be a rare or very critical situation if the patient's body actually needed to be touched. In general their are two views as to how energy field healing actually heals. One is that the practitioner directs or modifies the patient’s energy field in a way that facilitates healing. The other is that the source of the healing comes not from the practitioner but from a universal energy or higher power. It is my belief that both assessments are true. First you bring in the energy from a higher universal source, and then you use it to direct or modify the patient’s energy field in a way that facilitates healing.

The word Chios in English translation would be "life force,". Chios is the life welling in all-living things, as they strive towards growth and upwards towards the light and enlightenment. This meaning also includes the struggle of spiritual growth, and of the spiritual process.
