17th Century Human

17th Century Humans
To understand it at core level, we must look at the context of history of civilizations. Dr. Stephen covey in his book 8Th Habit has described it in a beautiful way.

He has divided in into five parts.

1.Hunter and Gatherer Age
2.Agriculture Age
3.Industrial Age
4.Information / knowledge  worker age.
5.Age of Wisdom

He says that imagine in a moment that you take a step back in time and are a hunter and gatherer of food.  Each day you go out with a bow and arrow or stones and sticks to gather food for self and family.

That's all you have over known, seen and done to survive. They couldn’t see any other way to survive under its circumstances and then some one comes up to you think your response would be?

You see him go out and scratch the earth and throw little seeds into the ground and you see nothing; you see him watering the soil and removing weeds and still you see nothing.

But eventually you see a great harvest.

You notice his yield as a "Farmer is fifty times greater than yours as a hunter and gatherer.

Now farmer is more productive than hunters, you see him making enough money to send his kids to school and give them opportunities.   On the other hand you are barely surviving.

Several generation pass, and along comes the industrial age.

People build factories and learn specialization, delegation and other management techniques.  They learn how to take raw materials through an assembly line with very high levels of efficiency.

The productivity goes up further by say fifty times over – the farmer.

Now we are moving into information / knowledge workers age.  Dr. covey believes that this age will increase the productivity level further by 50 times.

Point is..........

We have the eyes but we fail to see that higher productivity at organization level drives performance but suppress the human talent.

Many people have a hard time being genuinely happy under the pressure of producing more and more.  Stress level goes up.   It affects the quality of life at relationship level.  People become frustrated and that affects there productivity as well, affects/ physical /mental health as well.

They are not suffering because they can't resolve their problem but because they can't see there problems.

The real problem is "STRESS"...... there is no system to counter that .
